Introduction

It is my pleasure to be working with all of you and with West soccer. West has been a family affair for me since my sister Tiya and I both played varsity in the 'orange and black' during the late 80's/early 90's. Both the girls and boys programs have had successful seasons over the years, the girls winning 2 titles and reaching the final 10 times and the boys winning 4 titles and reaching the final 9 times. I had the opportunity to be a part of 2 of those winning teams, and let me say that it is truly an honor to be now coaching the West High boys soccer team.

WEST BOYS

I believe that the boys program has only had 3 previous coaches. From this group of coaches a style of creative, attacking soccer arose. This can also in some way be attributed to the ethnic make-up of West. With one of the most ethnically diverse student bodies in the state, West has used that as an advantage on the pitch, with influences from Mexico, Central and South America, Europe and more, in the form of players and coaching staff, which has created a very open style of play that is attractive as well as efficient.

I feel this season can be very successful. The boys haven't forgotten that disappointment, and have worked hard in the off-season. There is also a large group of talented and hungry underclassmen that will be a pushing for starting positions. It should be an exciting season.

Laef Eggan, Varsity Boys Head Coach.

WEST GIRLS

The girls program has been up-and-down for a little while now, far from the days of dominance at the regional and state levels. I'm not a West historian yet so I can't really go into details of the program, but I can say that I'm pleased to be here. I'm looking forward to working with this group of established and new girls that I believe can do good things together.

The first key to our success is respect. If you're representing West Soccer in any way, you will respect yourselves and your team by always working hard and taking accountability for your actions, on and off the field. Are you really working as hard as you can? Are you focused on your individual/team goals? What's the saying? "Be the change you want to see..." or something like that. Let's get to work.

Mike Oliver, Varsity Girls Head Coach.

WEST SOCCER would like to thank the Booster Club and our sponsors for all of their time and hard work. We could not do any of this without your support. Thank you all.
